Book one completed

With Book one of Rise of the Runelords 5e style, will be completed are next session this coming Sunday with an hour or two left to completion Book two will start with me at the helm.

I enjoy adding levels to monsters as 3.5/Pathfinder did/does and have been adding levels to ghouls to throw at the party in Book two.

It is tricky creating/converting monsters, you never know if it is too much or too little until you play it out.

Are last session we had a player death and one player announced something that came from no where.
They we're dropping out. This kind of burst my bubble. I enjoy gaming with this person, I talk with them a lot, through messenger mostly, this is the second time they have starter something with me and later left to do something else. I don't think I can game with this person again if they want to join something I'm into?

Anyway,
The cleric was cut down in a large fight in the Temple and the wizard (now left the game) failed 2 death saves, passed three awoke to find us victorious.

Pathfinder? or Not to Pathfinder?

Pathfinder? or Not to Pathfinder?

That is the question.

I find us using more and more rules from 3.5/Pathfinder every session or at least discussing the consideration of using the rule in are 5e game.  Does that mean subconsciously we want to play Pathfinder again?
Are Noob player has borrowed and read some or most of the Pathfinder core rulebook and would make the switch to Pathfinder for the endless possibilities instead of the easy of play 5e allows.
Are relaxed player just wants to play but will try it, but it comes down in my opinion to him being bad in basic math, as he has mentioned many times.

release schedule of 5e

Starting to get a little irritated with the release schedule of 5e.

I want more! I want Dungeon Magazine back!
If they released Dungeon Magazine bi-monthly and digital we would (as DM's) much more content, ideas, stuff to steal, borrow for are games.

They could produce 6 magazines a year for 10+ years with a few people converting all the existing dungeon magazine content out for 5e. They could even release 2 hard covers a year doing the same thing that Tales of the Yawning Portal did but with dungeon magazine content.

I don't get it?           Even out source it to a third party to convert and publish with zero risk, but you and I know it would sell regardless.

Currently I steal (or borrow) from Paizo (Pathfinder) but converting is simple in this edition, so it has not been an issue.
I can not praise them enough and if you did not know they are (or most) former employees of TSR or freelanced for Wizards of the Coast many times.

With new magic items, monsters, character classes, information for players and dungeon masters in pretty much many of the 5e book everyone at the table has been purchasing  the books so I have stayed away from running the current line of 5e releases. I can not blame them, they are starving for content. WotC with a slower release schedule has generated more profit by selling more or less produced books.

I currently have been looking to Pathfinder for guidance to get ideas.

Reading other RPG's

With finishing the 13th Age core rulebook, I sit here looking at my shelf thinking what RPG to read next?

Read Fantasy Age, read and played Dungeon Crawl Classics, I purchased Dungeon Fantasy (GURPS), Fate, Startfinder. I have Green Ronin's Game of Thrones sitting at my flgs for purchase.

My next big RPG I want to read and DO want to play is Genesys from fantasy flight games. I don't like fantasy flight, I will say it. I stay away from the company for my own reasons, they are my own.
But with a generic system I finally want to pick the book up. I know the system as I have Edge of the Empire, Force & Destiny starter boxed sets.

Pathfinder Adventure Paths

I enjoy the Pathfinder Adventure Paths.
I started back with Issue number one for 9 issues and canceled once 4th edition was announced and this Pathfinder thing was going to happen.

Once my D&D 3.5 gaming ran it's coarse we played other games and I finally learned that Pathfinder was just D&D 3.75 and the group was willing to stop 3.5 and try this thing.

I started back up collecting Adventure Paths at issue #25 The Bastards of Erebus. to Date I have yet to read it.

My collection is around 96 issues out of 126, thirty issues to go.
Wrath of the Righteous is a maybe, have no motivation to purchase this unless I pick up everything else.
Second Darkness & Legacy of Fire will only be purchased as compilations as I have curse of the crimson throne and rise of the runelords as compilations.

To date this is what I have completed in Adventure Paths.

1.Carrion Crown, 5 out of 6 books in Pathfinder system.
2.Kingmaker, 2 out of 6 books in Pathfinder system. The group assaulted the Trolls and 2 escaped and recruited 3 more adventurers. They all died assaulting the lair a second time.
3.Giantslayer, 3 out of 6 books in Dungeons & Dragons 5e. The group did not start follwing the books till level 5 (ish) and I converted it to 5e stealing from the story heavily. The party died one session away from 13th level. they fought a dragon at the top of Minderhals temple. They repeated ignored hints to leave, but took on the Stone giant Paladin and a Dragon.
4. Rise of the Runelords currently one session away from finishing book one, system,  Dungeons & Dragons 5e. I will be taking over DMing with Book two.

Sitting here

Sitting here thinking about planning the next 3 session dates of are D&D 5e Rise of the Runelords campaign.

I will be taking over the reigns of the DM seat with book two, the Skinsaw Murders.

I choose this image of the cover as I also have the Syrinscape sound set sitting in my cart ready to purchase this in a weeks time so I can go through it after reading book 2.
I printed off book 2 and will read and high-lite what is important to this adventure, I look forward to adding levels to monsters as it was always my favourite part of  3.5/Pathfinder fighting a simple goblin, but that goblin is a 10th level rogue ;)

Miniatures? to buy or not to buy, that is the question?

Podcast & Lighting

Just finished episode 99 of Glass Cannon Podcast and a few weeks ago signed up for $5 Patreon to support the cast and to get the $5 tier Azlanti adventure path podcast launching in February (this month) soon.

Also spent the money on a mini-projector and now bought this,

I will be building a small 4 inch to 6 inch high table the size of the two pieces of paper I use to project the image onto (44"x28").
I will run the light strip under the table to give the group a light source during projector encounters and can even change the light colour to match moods.

SuperBowl? Super gaming instead.

SuperBowl? Super gaming instead.

Entering the thistle top lair after assaulting it once before was madness.
The bridge we crossed a second time was trapped slowing are progress and an ambush set us in the backfoot.
When the wizard tried to catch the unconscious cleric from going over the edge and fell as well.
The Bard went over the edge almost dieing to the monster that lives in the waters around thistletop.
The monk and barbarian mopped up the rest till the others got back to them.
I was against going into the lower levels without rest, now what awaits us below?
