            OceANUS was along with his sea lion were sucked into the Baphomet’s staff and Hamoot was released. The group found a stairway that lead further underwater and thus further into the Sahuagin lair. Arriving at the landing at the bottom of the staircase the group came too two hallways and decided to progress down the first one, first. They found a doorway on the side of the hallway that had light coming from under it. Gaspar opened the door and moved in, with the rest of the group right behind him. In the room were 4 sahuagin honour guards that were quickly slain. The party exited the room and Baphomet went to scout ahead. He found that the hallway opened into a large chamber which had a very large sahuagin with four arms sitting on a throne that was surrounded by honour guards. The group decided to double back to the landing and went through the second hallway. They followed it until they came to very large room that contained two sahuagin mages, a squid creature mage, and a megalodon. Gaspar went in through the front door and lead the megalodon out into the hallway and then down another hallway so it couldn’t turn around. The hallway it was lead down also lead to a back door that Thane snuck in through and assassinated the weird squid mage guy. Gaspar went in through the back entrance to evade the megalodon while Baphomet and Hamoot came out of hiding and entered through the front entrance.

The mages used some magic to paralyze Thane and Gaspar, but luckily Hamoot killed the mage that froze Gaspar and Thane managed to break out. Baphomet and Gaspar quickly went back into the hallway to blast the megalodon with spells while it attempted to smash in through the back entrance. Thane and Gaspar killed the last mage and then went to stab the megalodon from the front. Unfortunately a group of six sahuagin managed to sneak up on Baphoment and Hamoot and surrounded them. Almost killing Baphomet the sahuagin had the upper hand until Hamoot threw two of them into the megalodon tail killing both of them instantly. Thane and Gaspar heard this and managed to get back around through the front entrance to help them and help kill the last four sahuagin. As the last sahuagin fell the megalodon managed to smash through the wall and swam into the large room.

Sea Trolled

                The sahuagin on the other side of the portcullis raised it and came to fight the group. Baphomet who was invisible snuck around through a back hallway, passing a large set of doors, and closed the portcullis from the other side, trapping the sahuagin with OceANUS, Gaspar, and Thane. The three heroes quickly killed the sahuagin and waited for Baphomet to reopen the portcullis. When the portcullis was finally raised the group ventured to the other side and found a path leading to a small prison where Hamoot and two other prisoners were being held. The two other prisoners were named Elmo, a human wizard and Tharagrim Fjor, a dwarf cleric. Elmo and Hamoot were placed in Baphomet’s crystal staff and the group ventured on into the Sahuagin lair with Tharagrim Fjor now helping them. The soon came to a large room where 8 sahuagin were lording over 10 slaves (3 orcs, 1 hobgoblin, 4 lizardfolk, and 2 dwarves). Baphomet threw a fireball at the sahuagin and the rest of the group ran in to finish them off. They set the slaves free and convinced the orcs to help the push forward and the hobgoblin to return to Phandalin and join Gaspar Reclamations. The group also found a pool of water that lead further down into the sahuagin compound. Our party ventured back to the double doors that Baphomet found earlier and opened them, only to find 2 sea trolls. One thing lead to another and two of the orcs were killed and a TPK was almost witnessed, but the trolls laid dead, the group had triumphed.

                After the brawl with the trolls the group explored the last room which contained lots of magical items that gave the ability to breathe water and a small figurine that summoned a large sea lion. The group “liberated” these items and made way to room with the entrance to the lower portion of the compound. Now underwater the group found an empty guard room, a guard room which they detected 16 organisms to be on the other side of, but most notably a large coliseum that was filled with roughly 100 sahuagin. The group continued exploring until they found another guard room that was filled with only 6 sahuagin. OceANUS summoned his pet sea lion and they group having the element of surprise quickly slaughter the 6 sahuagin.

            The party met up with the alliance of lizardfolk, merfolk, and koalinth. The plan the groups agreed on was that the lizardfolk, merfolk, and koalinth would attack through the water entrance of the lair in order to draw most of the sahuagin warriors to that entrance. During this attack the party would execute another assault from the top entrance and push down to the lower entrance. However the party learned that Hamoot was captured after leading a scouting party to the lair. The merfolk gifted the party with two scrolls of water breathing, two scrolls of tongues, and two potions of alter self which can make people who drink it look like sahuagin. Gaspar and OceANUS drank the potions and used the scrolls of tongues so they would look like sahuagin and speak their tongue. They escorted Thane and Baphomet to the surface entrance of the lair as prisoners. As the group entered they found five sahuagin guarding the door and another portcullis further in, which acted as a secondary checkpoint which had five sahuagin on the other side. The portcullis was raised and once the entire group was across, Thane kicked the quick release on the crank, scream “THE JIG IS UP” and started the attack. The group made quick work of the five guards while the other five sahuagin watched helplessly from the other side of the portcullis. Once the group killed the guards, Baphomet color sprayed the sahuagin on the other side of the portcullis which blinded them. Once they were blinded, the group raised the portcullis and killed the other five guards. The party piled up all the bodies in a corner and hid the alarm gong under the pile.

            The group, still attempting to use their prisoner disguise, lit a torch and made their way through the hallway furthest to the left. While in the darkness Gaspar realised that he lost his dark vision after drinking the potion. While going through the hallway they came to a dark room and heard shuffling in it. OceANUS, who still looked like a sahuagin, called out to the room, but got no reply. The group entered the room and found two sahuagin in the room. Gaspar told them they had to bring the slaves to this room, which resulted in the sahuagin demanding who gave the order. Baphomet screamed “THE JIG IS UP” and the group attacked and killed the two sahuagin. The bodies were stuffed in a corner and the group continued down the hallway. They got to a point where another portcullis was blocking their path forward so they had to turn right which lead to very large and lit room where 8 sahuagin were training. Baphoment cast slow on 6 of the enemies and the group charged in. OceANUS charged in first and took on allot of hits while cutting down the sahuagin. Thane and Gaspar followed in behind him laying waste to the sahuagin. Baphomet stayed back and threw fire bolts at three sahuagin which were going around the group to try and attack him. During the fight Gaspar and OceANUS’s potions wore off from failed concentration checks and it was revealed that Gaspar had turned into a human from a side effect from the potion.  Gaspar and Thane then left OceANUS to fight a sahuagin captain to help Baphomet. Baphomet then cast invisibility and followed Thane around giving him advantage so he could sneak attack. He also ran into a side room from the barracks to find an armoury with allot of weapons and two large storage rooms with various mining tools in it. The other three party members killed off the last of the sahuagin, but one ran off into the hallway that the group came from. Thane went to kill him, but before he could the sahuagin screamed intruders. After Thane killed him he turned around the see that there were now two sahuagin standing on the other side of the portcullis and they began to raise it to come attack the party.

Diplomacy

            The group ran off into the swamp to evade the second lizard patrol and make it back to their row boat so they could retreat to their ship for the night. Upon their arrival they rested and fled to the open sea. When they awoke the decided that they would sail their ship to the lizard folk lair and attempt to broker peace between them and the people of Phandalin. Once they arrived at the entrance to the lizard lair Thane and Gaspar took the row boat in where they met up with a lizard land party. They bowed submissively and asked to see the lizard chief. The lizards complied and brought them deep into their lair. Upon meeting with the chief, they also met a very old lizard named “The Ambassador” who acted a translator for the Chief. The lizard Chief spoke common and demanded to know why we were there. We told them that we were here to broker a peace treaty with the inhabitants of Phandalin. The Chief laughed at us claiming that after all of his men that we killed there would never be peace. Gaspar and Thane reminded them that they started it with their attack. This statement confused the lizard Chief as he claimed he only sent scouts who were not to attack. Further conversation lead to an armistice between the lizards and Phandalin on the condition that we pay 10gp for each lizard we killed and that the two lizards held prison at Phandalin are returned to him for interrogation. We exited the lair and sailed back to Phandalin to share the good news.

            The founding fathers of Phandalin were outraged with this news claiming that the lizards could never be trusted and that the two prisoners would face trial in Phandalin and not be released. One of them was especially pissed off since his niece was one of the townsfolk killed in the lizard attack. This lead to a standoff between the town and the party based on what should be done with the prisoners. The party retreated to their manor to let the fathers have a discussion on what should be done. At their manor they learned that two crates of their supplies had gone missing while they were away. They were unable to investigate the matter further as the lizard problem was more serious. The next morning the met the fathers who said that they decided the lizards must stand trial, but they would send a diplomat with us to the lizard Chief. We took the diplomat to the lizard Chief and after a long conversation the Chief agreed that his men should face trial in Phandalin. He also asked for our aid in assisting an alliance of aquatic races who would be launching an assault on an old lizard folk lair that had been taken over by sahuagin. The party agreed and prepared for the assault which would happen within a week’s time.

            To pass some time while waiting for the assault they decided to try and find Cragmaw Castle, an old fort which was believed to be the center of all goblin activity’s in that area. They traveled about two hours out of town to an area where a goblin ambush recently occurred. They searched the area where the found two goblins. They captured one and got him to take them to the castle. Arriving at the castle they found it to be in ruins. The goblin told them that it was attacked by a tribe of orcs who had a red dragon with them. The party killed the goblin and returned to town to find something else to do. They found a NPC with an exclamation mark over his head. His name was Daran, and he told them that he heard that someone was digging at the Old Owl Well, an old watcher, and that anyone who went to investigate was chased out by undead. He wanted us to go investigate what was going on. We set out with directions from Daran and arrived at the tower during the late afternoon. Upon arrival we saw that the tower was surrounded by 7 human zombies and 4 ogre zombies. Hamoot ran up to them and turned undead which killed all of the human zombies and caused the ogre ones to start retreating. OceANUS, Thane, and Gaspar moved up and started to pick off the ogre zombies one at a time. Baphomet however noticed that a necromancer was at the top of the tower and started to throw fire bolts at him. Hamoot cast silence on the top of the tower to keep the necromancer from spell casting. After killing two ogre zombies, Gaspar ran into the tower to try and knock out the necromancer while Thane and OceANUS went to kill another ogre zombie. After killing the third ogre zombie, OceANUS ran up into the tower to help Gaspar while Thane searched a nearby tent and found some goodies. When OceANUS reached the top of the tower he found Gaspar had already knocked out the necromancer, but he slit the wizard’s throat anyway. The party then returned back to Phandalin where they rested and prepared for their assault on the sahuagin.

Ambused Yet Again!

            Hamoot rejoined the party after appearing from Baphomet’s crystal staff. The party hauled ass out of the lizard folk lair with an unconcise lizard. After about 30 minutes the lizard woke up and escaped from OceANUS haha, who had to put it down. The group got back to their rowboat and back to their ship were the rested for the next day. During their rest, a lizard scout party spotted their ship and they had to move it back to open seas. The next night the group took the rowboat to a different shore and set off into the swamp to hunt some of the lizard patrols. Hindered by Thanes inability to see in the dark the group was ambushed by a group of 9 lizards with one of the summoning 4 crocodiles. Through the use of a well-placed fireball the party killed the patrol, but the patrols spell caster changed into a crocodile and swam away. The party decided to search for other patrols to hunt and you guessed it they were ambushed again. The lizard patrol flanked the party with javelin throwers to the left being led by the previous spell caster who escaped earlier and the other group being 4 lizards with clubs being led by a new spell caster, who summoned 4 more crocodiles. The previous spell caster also cast heat metal on OceANUS’s metal armour. Hamoot threw a fireball into the group with spells caster concentrating on the heat metal spell and injuring all the javelin throwers. Baphomet threw up darkness which engulfed Thane. OceANUS was grappled by one of the crocodiles and Gaspar was being swarmed by the lizards and knocked prone. Thane flipped out of the darkness and landed on his neck, but got a flank on Gaspar with a crocodile and managed to kill it. Hamoot channeled divinity which killed most of the lizards and crocodiles. Baphomet killed on of the lizard druids with a magic missile and the other one was hunted down by Gaspar. Thane and OceANUS killed off any of the remaining lizards.

            The party rested up and decided that it was time they ambushed one of the patrols. Baphomet used a spell to make his voice louder and tried to lure a group in. Unfortunately two patrols were coming to check on the disturbance. One patrol went left and the other right in an attempt to flank the party. The group acted quick and managed to get the jump on the patrol that headed left. Hamoot ran into the center of the patrol and used his channel divinity to injure all of them. Thane ran in and assassinated the patrols druid. Gaspar and Baphomet took down an ogre sized lizard that happened to be with this patrol. OceANUS killed off most of the peasant lizards, but two of the javelin throwers managed to get away into the swamp and are currently running to warn the other patrol… TO BE CONTIUED!!!

            The group went to the town guard station to interrogate the two lizard folk that the town guard captured. The town trade master Sildar told the group that the lizard folk revealed that they plan on attacking Phandalin, which contradicting their earlier statement that they were going to war with shark people. The group readied their crew and set off to eliminate a lizard folk tribe. They arrived at the mouth of the river leading inland to the swamp, dropped anchor, and set off in a rowboat using the cover of night. After reaching land and making their way into the swamp they were ambushing by a group of 4 bullywugs. After killing three of them, another group of 4 and a weird giant slug creature attacked from behind. Oceanus charged to face the enemy and Thane downed his potion of fire breath and focused his breath weapon on the slug creature. One of the bullywugs ran into the swamp attempting to escape, but Gaspar knocked him unconscious with a well-placed dart. Gaspar went to retrieve the unconscious bullywug and noticed a chest there which he kept to himself. The group took the bullywug back to rowboat, and then back to their ship where they interrogated him. From him they learned that the bullywugs and many other swamp creatures were leaving the swamps as the lizard folk had become too aggressive lately. They also learned about the chest that Gaspar kept secret. Within it they found 550 gold, 5 rubies, 2 cool stones, an Ioun stone, a baseball cap, and a +1 shield. The group decided to wait till the next night to assault the lizard folk lair.

            The next night the group evading 4 lizard folk patrols, each consisting of 10 guards. Upon arriving at the lair, they found 2 underwater entrances and a hidden door. They decided to make their way into the hidden door, sending Thane to scout ahead. Thane found a small guard station consisting of 4 lizard folk and a giant brute one. The rest of the group snuck in and sent Thane and Gaspar in first. Thane killed the brute and Gaspar kept the door they were guarding shut in anticipations of more lizard folk being on the other side. After their cover was blown, Oceanus charged in and Baphomet lit the lizards up with his eldritch blast. After the guards were killed Thane opened up the door Gaspar was blocking, only to slam it shut after seeing 8 lizard folk on the other side who formed a phalanx. Baphomet misty stepped into to room and unleashed his darkness which blinded the lizards. Thane charged into the darkness hoping to kill one of the lizards. 4 of the 8 lizards made their way into down a hallway and flanked Gaspar and Oceanus. After missing several strikes Thane ran out of the darkness to aid the flanked party members. The group’s effort was enough to kill 7 of the lizards and take one alive. They did a quick search of the rooms they had been in and prepared to leave the lair to recover… TO BE CONTINUED!

Pirates

 Once the pirates surrendered the party’s next goal was to save Hamoot who was now 60ft away from the boat. Hamoot started to throw barrels off of the boat as the lizard folk started to tip it. Baphomet started to block off all of the doors that lead to the bottom deck, Thane started tying rope to an arrow, Gabriel started tying up the four pirates that surrendered, and Grey started to loot the dead bodies. Hamoot jumped into the second barrel he threw off and Baphomet cast darkness on the boat to cover his escape. Thane shot his arrow into the barrel and started to pull him in with the rope. One of the lizard folk however realised this and severed the rope. Grey then ran to man the ballista. One of the lizard folk breached the water and tried to attack Hamoot, but he was killed by a ballista shoot from Grey. The next lizard folk tipped the barrel, but Hamoot was close enough now that he was able to swim back to the boat. After taking over the boat the party discovered a sea elf prisoner named Oceanus. He revealed that he was following the ship for some time and he snuck on two day earlier, but was captured when he tried to sneak off. The party found 18,000 gold pieces worth of loot on board and a map leading to the pirate’s next destination. Gabriel the paladin was sucked into the crystal on Baphomet’s staff.

The next morning the group retrieved the three red cloak bandits from the haunted house and set sail for Phandalin. On their arrival they returned the bodies of the mercenaries to their families and gave them their cut. People started to join their crew and they used their new treasure stash to pay to have Tresendar Manor renovated. The founding fathers of Phandalin offered the group a 400 gold piece reward to investigate the lizard folk presence. They learned from the former pirates that there next destination was the lizard folk lair which was the location on the map they found. Baphomet named himself captain and the group set sail with their new crew to investigate. When they arrived at the meeting point with the lizard folk the pirates told them that they have been giving weapons to the lizard folk and that the three lizard folk on the boat when they attacked were delivering the last payment for the weapon’s. Thane, Hamoot, Oceanus, and one of the pirates took a row boat with weapons to the meeting point to try and learn what the lizard folk needed the weapons for. When they got to the beach, roughly 30 lizard folk came out of the woods and they began to unload the weapons. Hamoot cast a spell to let him speak draconic and learned from the lizard folk chief that they needed the weapons for a war with the shark people. The group returned and relayed this information to Baphomet and decided that it would be beneficial to give them more weapon’s and sailed back to Phandalin. Oceanus left to update his people on what he learned. When the group returned they told the founding fathers what they learned and the fathers began to argue about what they should do. Oceanus returned to tell the group that the lizard folk asked his people for aid in the war. During this meeting though the town guard burst in and informed the group that a lizard folk scouting party was at the town and attacked when they realised they were spotter. The guards fought off the group and managed to take two of the prisoner…
