Off the Rails!

Going to go off the Rails!

I will be running the rest of Rise of the Runelords Campaign, so it is time to go off the rails with character back stories, changing or ignoring minor aspects of the books to better fit these concepts that players will be bringing forth.

The hardest part of running a game is inspiring the players to do homework for the character they play.
I had players choose gods from the Golarion pantheons then added obedience's that the characters can add flavour towards character development, so far after one session no one tried to preform an obedience.
I also added a trait that the character can always get as a worshiper of  said god, that I will take away at key points if they do not take a few opportunities to praise said god during play.
Simple things like even saying "my character takes a drink and thinks about Cayden" done keep the trait.

I prefer a cruncher version of 5e but do not want the massive amounts that Pathfinder 1e currently offers.

Example of an Obedience below,

Gozreh

Obedience Hang a set of chimes where they will be stirred by
either wind or water. If no suitable location exists to hang the
chimes, you must hold the chimes and shake them gently to
sound them throughout your obedience. Chant prayers from
Hymns to the Wind and the Waves as you attune yourself to
the sound of the chimes, then drink a mouthful of pure water
and pour a handful over your head. Gain advantage on your first
saving throws against electricity and water spells and
effects.
