My 5e Game

It is still going on and have yet to add another update and or session report in sometime.

Attaining level eleven and finishing book 4 the group seems to ignore side stories and want to focus on completion of the campaign. That is nice but at the same time disheartening that they don't want to roleplay, just ROLLplay. I guess you can't have both at times?

The last fight was a test of patience for both sides of the screen, the party lacks ranged capabilities, which was mentioned sessions ago and they have yet to confront it.
I used a stone giant wizard that had glyph of warding, fly spell activated and was blasting the party at range. 3 hours later the battle raged on and patience began to wear thin on both sides of the gaming table.
In the end the wizard fled as he was almost out of spell slots.

So now the group will be rectifying the ranged problem or in 5 sessions will be making it an issue again.

Kingmaker

Kingmaker is an old Pathfinder adventure path that I can twice.
Both ended in TPK's (Total party killed). Sad but true.

Now two sessions in my son has started the campaign with his friends.

Persival, half-orc Bloodrager
Detlaff the youger, elf warpriest
Gawain of the broken table, half-orc sorcerer
Galahad, half-orc hunter
and Phantom, the hunter black panther.

Wonder if he will get a TPK in book two like I did twice 😉

Reading Players

Last session the group was getting frustrated with the encounter, it was the little things they said that tipped me off.
"Your a shitty DM" the Druid
"Just end it or kill us" the Barbarian
"Stop laughing at us!" the Cleric
"I will kill myself if this continues" the Monk
"This is great, look at them all crying,Hahahaha" the Ranger

So yes I could tell a little frustration was brewing.
The boss fled to end the fight but he will be back with back up soon!

Times are a Changing!

The times are a changing!

Came to weird conclusion today of how the game has changed.
Players want to be entertained not challenged.
Old school is success or fail.
New school is keep me entertained.

The Spiritualist

"the master of a single powerful phantom whom the spiritualist can manifest to do her bidding."

Been reading the Occult Adventures book, just bought the pocket edition.
The Spiritualist is like a sorcerer and ranger in 5e, a very poor melee/ranged ranger with more spells that has an animal companion that is a phantom, how cool is that?

This maybe my new favourite or coolest class for pathfinder? it really interests me, wonder how it play's?

Why Do I Play?

That is a tough one?

First off comradeship of friends and family.
Secondly it has to be the thrill of adventure and entertainment.
Thirdly complexity of challenging player characters with new traps, encounters and fun.
Lastly I enjoy how cool and strategies that play into fun looking set ups on the table top.

Time off

Once in a blue moon we take time off from the game, last Sunday was one of those times.
When the time comes to game sometimes life gets in the way of the enjoyment, last week was one of those times.
I called it off due to family issues and it was a just in case issue as the possibility was there?

Now in a week time back to the grinder and we will try and fit in 3 sessions in July!! 

Building an Enconter,The Scribbler

The Scribbler Encounter in Rise of the Runelords converted to 5e needs to be win-able as the story has to progress with Knowledge found at the site.
I took the Drow Shadowblade from Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes p.187 and needed to add to it.

The Scribbler can use dimension door in pathfinder, the Drow Shadowblade can shadow step, I in turn changed this to only with in the shrine making it even weaker but has no weakness as he can not pursue the group if they flee.

The Innate Spellcasting that the drow can cast, I went a head and changed the darkness spell to Invisibility, Also the shrine automatically has Nondetection on him all the time and guards and wards are always running, these two abilities are like Lair actions always running. In addition Alarm spells are always on in rooms A1,A6 and A9. 



  

The Next Generation

The Next Generation in my home is starting his third game? it is members from the last two groups that have fallen to the way side, this time he is going to play with only four members and without me!!

Can you believe it? Not inviting his Father. My house, my gaming room, my miniatures, my drinks, my projector, my well you get the picture.

I printed off the spells from 5+ pathfinder books and placed them in one binder for him and also ordered the Pathfinder core rule book and advance players guide for him.
I hope a player drops so I can join 😏
