After sending off the only escape boat, Gabriel rejoined the rest of the group below decks only to find that Hamoot had went to clean up the old shrine room of the ship. While the party prepared to go clear the rest of the second deck, Gabriel searched the old captain’s quarters and found nine potions and a spell book. He then went to rejoin the rest of the party and after going into the first room they found the ghost of Gabriel’s former daughter Pryia who was lashing out at two of the ships former crew with a whip. Gabriel tried to find out why his  daughter was here and she said that her grave was disturbed by the captain of the guard at Phandalin named Rodrick who ordered that their bodies be moved in order to construct a wall around the city. She told Gabriel that is was Loviatar’s wish that he returns to Phandalin and exact revenge on Rodrick. Gabriel complied which caused Pryia’s ghost to disappear. The group helped the two crewmates and while tending to their wounds, Fiddlesticks realised that they were lycanthropes. Once the crew mates were stable Fiddlesticks sent his imps into the bottom of the ship with a sending stone and the response from them was a scream before falling silent. Fiddlesticks threw a stone with light cast on it down the hole and the party jumped down to find out what killed the imps. Upon landing the party was ambushed by a half shark, half octopus creatures. During the fight Fiddlesticks enlarged 12 centipedes to aid in the fight against the creature. However once the first creature died, another came from the other side and almost killed Bojangles. The group then turned its attention to the other creature and killed it.
Once the group returned to the main deck they realised that a storm was approaching and that they would have to try and save the ship.  After a constant struggle the group managed to succeed in their skill challenge and save the ship. After a three-month sail, the group managed to return to Phandalin and were met by a contingent of troops lead by a former sergeant of the militia named Vladimir, a replacement character for Bojangles. Vladimir greeted the group upon their arrival and explained the current state of the sword coast. A month after the groups absence from Phandalin, orcs and giants forged an alliance and started a war against the cities of the sword coast. Phandalin has mostly been dealing with orcs, orogs, ogres, ettins, and the occasional hill giant. They learned that the Twisted Nail orc tribe and the hill giants of the Heart Eater tribe came together to form the Twisted Hearts tribe and have already attempted to attack Phandalin once. After meeting with the local militia the group was met by one of their former crew mates who also happened to be part pf the red cloak bandits who terrorized Phandalin two year earlier. He told his former bosses that they should meet with him at the local tavern once he was off duty in an hour. While the group went to meet their former employee, many of Phadalin’s citizens were praising them and saying that they were saved now that the hero’s of Phandalin had returned. Once they meet at the bar, their former employee told them that in their absence the town council took all the money they had made earlier and use it to fortify the city since they were pronounced dead after being missing for three months. He said that they should enlist in the militia for one year so that they would become citizens of Phandalin and then be able to reclaim their former treasure horde. While Gaspar, Gabriel, Hamoot and Baphomet went to in list in the militia, Fiddlesticks went back to the boat since he had no reason to enlist. On the boat he found a deck of many things and immediately drew a card which granted him a gnome companion named Dudu.
